I arrived in China on Thursday February 4 on a half empty BA flight from direct London Heathrow. I was met at the airport by our guide Mr Sun. After a quick shower at the Beijing Peace Hotel Mr Sun took me for a walk around central Beijing. Along the way we stopped for a lunch of noodle soup. Eating this with chopsticks was interesting, especially as I'd never used them before ! Being tired from the flight an early night was had.

On the Narrow Gauge Quarry Line
On the 5th the two Australians, Peter Keen & Keith Findlay, arrived in the late morning. From the airport we headed out to the 762mm quarry line at Dahuichang. Armed with a few suspicious sausages as lunch we headed up a bank to await some activity. It was a little time in coming but finally something happened !

Once the train had headed downhill it was time to go. We headed back in to Beijing to get a feed before catching an overnight train from Beijing Bei to Chifeng. From Chifeng, where our driver met us, we went to the Jingpeng Pass area real working standard gauge steam action.
