This page is intended as a guide to some interesting viewing which features modern steam subjects. Not all the videos promise wall to wall modern steam or for that matter 100% steam of any sort either!

Prestige Steam Volume One Steam in South Africa primarily between Kimberley and De Aar. Features several sequences with SAR Class 26 'The Red Devil', 3450, and also modified 25NC 3454 with transverse double Lempor exhaust ejector. Assumed to be only on VHS. 'Argentina' (unofficial title) An amazing video showing Ing. L.D.Porta's very first locomotive, 4-8-0 'Argentina', under construction and on test in 1949. This video includes sequences showing Porta and French engineer André Chapelon together during the testing. This is available via Hr. G.Haslbeck in Germany. Each copy on VHS (PAL) costs €15+postage. Steam in Patagonia This video covers the Esquel line but more interestingly the RFIRT line. When filmed in the early 1990s the RFIRT 2-10-2s were past their best due to slipping standards of maintenance. However it is none the less an excellent record of the line in action. World Steam Today - North, Central & South America Not much in the way of true modern steam bar a very brief glimpse of Porta's Paraguayan loco but it does cover preserved 'Norfolk & Western' steam in action. Return of the Giants This video made in the late 1990s covers the then embryonic Sandstone Estates' plans to operate the South African Bethlehem to Bloemfontein line. This had yet to happen but it is still the ultimate aim. The video features excellent coverage of 25NC 3454 equipped with a transversely arranged double Lempor exhaust system fitted in the mid 1980s. -2001- The Victorian Year in Steam A review of steam operations in the Australian state of Victoria in 2001 on all gauges. Of special interest is footage of the modified R Class 4-6-4s R711 and R766 and also coverage of the the Puffing Billy Railway NA Class 2-6-2t 6A fitted with a Lempor exhaust ejector. Paraguay Steam No direct reference to modern steam but about 15 minutes of Kerr Stuart 4-6-0 No. 286 in operation. Filmed in 1991 and thus around the time of Porta's Paraguayan work. WELSH HIGHLAND RAILWAY - For the Love of Steam This shows the Alfred County Railway and the reopened Welsh Highland Railway which is operated by NGG16 Garratts from the ACR.
