Approximately of A4 portrait size it has 64 pages in addition to the four pages of the cover. Printed in colour throughout there are 71 illustrations, four maps, a detailed schematic track plan, gradient profile, extracts of test data from Garratt locomotive "Nora", and a stocklist.

Written by Chris Parrott, a seasonal driver/fitter/technical assistant with FCAF, much of the information is first hand, substantiated by his contemporary notes, diaries, correspondence and company records.
