La Petite Ceinture

This is very much a work in progress. The gallery below contains photographs taken whilst exploring the remains of the Paris orbital line known as La Petite Ceinture - The Little Belt. It does not claim to be an exhaustive survey of the line. There is a lot of line to explore and as exploration requires a trip to Paris I expect it to take some time until I have covered the entire route. The initial photographs were taken during March 2011 with more in June and July 2011. A couple of photographs have also been used from September 2010 when I walked Promenade Plantée, which met the Petite Ceinture at Bel-Air. The map below, where highlighted, shows the sections of the route covered so far.

The photo gallery contains details of several books which are highly recommended. These will help make it clear what was once at many of the locations shown and are especially useful for the sections of the line now demolished. Additionally Google Earth has been invaluable during my research, especially so the 1949 aerial view of Paris which is available.

Also highly recommended is the website of the Association Sauvegarde Petite Centure.
